NDI has been developing and manufacturing for over twenty-years now an impressive range of optical tracker systems with several thousand units already in the field. Whilst the majority of the NDI optical trackers in service are in the medical / surgical sectors, more and more clients are now seeing these products as the next generation technology in the industrial metrology field.

Laser Scanners
NDI's Handheld Laser Scanners are beamless - eliminating continuous line of sight requirements and have the highest shop floor accuracy, and includes scanning technology from Perceptron Inc. including the V4i and the class-leading V5 scanning system.
One of the key benefits of this type of technology is the exceptional ease of use - for higher measurement throughput, with the ability to perform walkabout scanning without beam-breaks, mechanical linkages, or photogrammetry targets.
Other key benefits include a reduction in operator fatigue with an ergonomic and lightweight scanner design, the ability to use the systems large measurement volume to scan large parts in one setup, and the possibility of being able to measure difficult surfaces without the need for powder or spray, including shiny black parts.
Users of NDI optical tracker laser scanning systems can also measure accurately in unstable environments with Dynamic Referencing (near stamping presses, forklifts, vibrating machinery, etc).
Laser scanning direct into powerful software packages such as PolyWorks® makes the NDI system the obvious choice for accurate large volume laser scanning and data processing.
Portable CMM (Portable Coordinate Measuring Machines)
This technology allows users to take the Portable CMM to the part instead of bringing the part to a fixed-based measuring machine.
Using NDI's Portable CMM (Portable Coordinate Measuring Machine), bring a lightweight Optical Tracker and handheld touch probe to any location to quickly measure large objects. Perform part-to-CAD, computer-aided inspection right on the shop floor with intuitive software that automatically compares measured points to CAD data in real time.
Dynamic Measuring Machines (DMM)
NDI's DMMs can measure vibrations, traveled paths, velocities, accelerations, displacements and more.
Capture the fast, complex motion of multiple objects over large volumes with exceptional precision using NDI's Dynamic Measuring Machine (DMM). The NDI Dynamic Measuring Machine is one of the most powerful and capable tools for advanced motion analysis.
The DMM uses an Optical Tracker to track specially designed targets that mark specific points of interest. The Optical Tracker's most powerful feature is the unique ability to track how 3D and 6 degrees of freedom (DOF) measurements change over time, adding a new dimension to industrial metrology by allowing for dynamic motion measurement.
